Cache (keep) downloaded geocache images
Answered
Hi,
I often have a bad internet connection in the forest. So if I do not have an already offlinized geocache I'm happy to get the listing or spoiler images even though bad internet connection. When I now switch to another listing and come back then the images are gone.
I found a switch in the config.cfg but I'm not sure if this is only for development and there is also a remark that it's only for A3.0+ devices?!
Would it be possible to keep already downloaded images?
Thanks! Wolfgang
Hi,
i set this config value since long time to "1" and it work quite good !
If a listing is opened once with available internet connection images are stored permanent ;-))

Hello Wolfgang and balloni,
so positive experience with this hidden feature? Hmm sounds like maybe we may put this permanently into app ...

I tested it today the first time with my Moto X Force. Unfortunately it does not work.

Hello. "It does not work" is not best description of problem.
When you close Locus Map, change config.cfg parameter to value 1 and start it again, then every display of certain geocache, should create directory with loaded data in "Locus/data/geocaching/cache code" directory. So you may check if Locus is storing some data here or not ...

Hi Menion,
yes you're right this description did not help but I did not know how I could help you to debug ;)
Now after some tests it looks better and seems to work. I mentioned that, because of a new installation of locus and all plugins, the Geocaching4Locus Plugin did not have rights to write to the SD Card. I guess this fixed my problem now.
But I mentioned an other problem that I have more often. It's related to this topic so I think it's not Off topic.
I have activated the function "load images automatically" but sometimes there is often only 'Loading' shown in the listing and nothing happens. After restarting locus and going back to that cache everything works then fine. Just to close the listing did not (often) help. Update cache listing wasn't any help. Is there a way to trigger loading all images of a listing ?

Hello Wolfgang,
Geocaching4Locus has nothing to do with this "automatic offlinizer" function, so it's weird that some re-install helped. Maybe just Locus incorrectly loaded change in config.cfg file.
Second problem is also interesting, but I'm worried I won't be able to help. Better ... this problem happen to you with this new settings "automatic offlinizer over cfg file" only or also previously with old system you used till now? Because in this new system, Locus Map take care about downloading of images. In old commonly used system, Android itself take care about downloading and caching.
