Support for geo-referenced PDF maps

Can locus use geo-referenced PDF maps? If not, is this something that can be added in the future?

I know there are other apps that will do this but it would be a nice feature if Locus doesn't already have it. I have not been able to figure out how to do it. Thanks for the help.

Dear Brandon,

thank you for question. Unfortunately Locus does not support GeoPDF and there is no plan for implementing such

feature. I can only suggest to convert geopdf into any suitable format that Locus support. For exmple GDAL or qGIS can convert geotiff into *.mbtiles format. Also SW Mapc2mapc can convert geoPDF to Locus *.sqlitedb" format.

Thank you for understanding

Best regards

Petr,

I'm sure adding this functionality would be a hindrance, though you should know that doing so would increase your user base substantially. Most professional land managers are able to easily create maps in ArcMap and export to pdf. Currently, the only way to get these maps onto a mobile device is by using PDFMaps, which is a clunky app. The development of Locus GIS will be nice, but without the ability to use layer packages, we will be left using the limited symbology options available in Locus GIS. What land managers use daily (all of them) is PDFMaps, because it allows them to quickly create maps with the correct symbology and quickly transfer those maps to mobile devices for field crew or personal use. I would consider adding this functionality to Locus GIS or Locus Maps, as there is a huge demand for it. The ability to use .shp and .db files in the field is nice for editing data in the field, but it is an inefficient way to view data in the field. I have recommended your app to at least 100 forestry professionals, and none of them will consider using it because of the conversion process needed from .pdf to .sqlitedb.
