Cannot see new files in export folder from PC unless rebooting phone
Answered
I'm using Android 7 and Locus Map Pro 3.30.4
If I export a track to gpx, I can see the new file using the android file navigator,
but when I connect the phone to a PC to download the file, it is not listed in the
export folder. I can see it after rebooting the phone. Alternatively, I can copy and paste the file
to the external sd card using the android file navigator: the file name is displayed by the PC on
the external sd card.
I cannot set the export folder to the external card (read-only message...), so all alternatives are really inconvenient.
Any other solution?
Thanks
Hello,
this is unfortunately an OS issue with some Android devices and MTP file transfer protocol when some folders are just not rescanned correctly when their content changes. As you have mentioned current workarounds are copying the file using system file manager (even copy&paste to the same folder should work), restarting the phone should also work for some devices and if that also fails then one has to clear data&cache for the Media Storage app in Settings-> Apps -> all apps ->Media Storage and then restart the phone.
So if copy&paste or restart works for you, it is currently probably the fastest workaround. Sorry :(

Hello again,
we might have found a way to fix this issue by some extra OS calls directly in Locus Map during the export which should make the files visible instantly after the export even on the PC. The fix will probably be released in the next version of Locus Map so that will hopefully solve your problems. Hang in there until then.
Thank you,
Milan

Hello,
the issue should be fixed in current beta version of Locus Map (for more information about beta testing click here) and will also be available in the next public version. If you will be testing it later whether in beta or next public version please let me know if the export works correctly on your phone. Hope the fix will help.
Thank you,

Great, many thanks Milan.
I understand the fix will be also included in the next Pro version. I'll try to find time
to test it in the beta version as well before that.
