Compass not working when I switch to navigation

Finn Petersen shared this problem 9 years ago
Not a Problem

When I start navigation in Android Locus Maps Pro 3.2.3, the program does not respond on turning the device(Galaxy Note 3) to another compass direction.

The map does not turn, regardless of what rotation mode I have chosen.

And also the Heading line is not turning when I turn the device if different compass directions.

The compass works perfect when not in navigation mode.

And the compass also works perfect in other apps, like Google Maps, Compass, and AndroSensor.

What is wrong?

Thank you in advance.

Good day Finn,

in navigation mode, Locus expect you'll ride in your car/bike along navigation track. So screen rotates in direction of this track. Hardware compass is not used in this case. It's then used only when you ride too far away from track and "navigation" is switched to "guiding".

OK, thank you for the answer, Menion.

Sure, you're welcome.

Does it make sense to you? Or you expect different behavior? I'm open to discussion.

Anyway in similar cases (as is probably yours), there exists special settings that disable snapping to track during navigation.

Try to disable "Snap to track" settings ( http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:settings:navigation ). This may helps.

Disable "Snap to track" was exactly what I needed.

I had to walk 7 kilometers the other day, beacause of a flat tire and a dried out glue.

And when I move so slowly on small tracks in the forrest, the magnetic compass is VERY useful.

Thank you so much, Menion.
