Dowloading HGT for a country

Hi !

Just a quick silly question.

When I download a vector map, at the end Locus ask if I want the HGT file as well.

But, if I have already the vector map, and I want to download the HGT file afterward, I don't find a way to do it...

The only way I found for now was to delete the map, and download it again...

Or to create a track that goes all over the country, and use the "fill the altitude" function...

Is there another way to do the same easily ?

All the best,

Romain

Had the same problem months ago, did some playing with Excel and produced KML files with grid points.

You can import the KML into Locus and then have the elevation filled, which will trigger all needed downloads.

Thanks a lot for your answers. Actually, my question was more simple :

It is possible to download the .hgt files of a country when you download a vector map.

So why isn't it possibke IN LOCUS to do that separately ?

It would be much easier than use external websites or other tricky options.

But I've got my answer : for now there is no easy way to do that inside Locus.

Thanks again, I may add a "idea" topic for this.

I have requested separate Downloads die maps, hgt und POIs more that once.

Price should be relative to the data volume, to be fair to both parties.

Idea generally focused on better downloading of HGT files is already ready for voting here: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/more-comfortable-srtm-download-for-hill-shading . And yes, unfortunately no better more user-friendly solution exists for now.

If you're a geocacher and have a folder of caches scattered around the country, it should be simple (though I haven't tried this to be sure): Select all, fill elevation.

I will try Michael version !

I'm not sure I understood how to remove the unwanted dots, though.

In Locus POI management you can work with (name) filters and with distance (i.e. a circle around the center of the map) to select and activate points, to get their elevation. For each country, one or only a few circles should do to cover. While you may have a few extra points beyond, but not hundreds.
