Galaxy S7 - GPS tracking while screen is off

I'm using locus mainly for GPS-tracking over many hours.

This worked fine on Galaxy S5.

Now, on Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) the tracking stops when screen was off for about 3 hours. When I touch the screen after, let's say, 4 hours, I see that the App has lost it's GPS-data, as tracking has stopped somewhere in the past. It takes then a few seconds and the app continues tracking from the present position.

What I did (without help):

- double checked the battery-optimisation and switched it off

- run locus as service

- make sure that the option in locus (switch GPS off if....) is disabled

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Hi,

have you checked and tried all options listed in this article? Especially this one: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:gps_lost_fix_android6#universal_solution.

from your link I have tried GPSlocker, without success. Looks like the GPS switches off in standby for any reason. will check greenify - will see if this can solve the problem....

NOT Greenify - it's making the problems, not solving - we're just warning against it. Try Memory Locker. One more thing - do you have Android 7 in your phone? Try settings > device maintenance > battery > Power saving mode OFF (adding Locus among “unmonitored apps” does not help - system switches GPS off)

Hi forellengarten,

you should read the whole document from Michals link from the beginning. In most cases it is enough to exclude Locus from system battery optimazion mode in the settings of the Galaxy S7. This is described in the section System battery optimazion mode a little bit ahead in the document.

And if you click the german flag under Translation of this page: you can get the whole article in german. Or you simple use this link: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=de:manual:faq:gps_lost_fix_android6

ok, just installed momory locker (even though I can't imagine how this prog could solve the problem). thank you for the links above - as mentioned I have tried this already without success. :-(

unfortunately memory locker doesn't solve the problem neither. what I figuered out meanwhile: when i switch on battery saving the same effect happens already after some minutes. when i switch battery safing off again it happens about 3 hours after the screen is gone to standby....

Then I'm sorry, we test Locus running all time on S7 without troubles (Locus is among battery non-optimized apps in system settings).

ok Michal, that's good to know. Thank you! In that case a reset to factory setting may help..... guess this will be my next step then...
