Greater res satellite?

Hi. just found Locus after becoming disgusted with Google Maps 'downgrades'. An aside, i migrated all my online 'My Maps' kml files to the new 'Maps Engine'. I use these extensively with the Android Application for navigation in the field, but now with access only to the new My Maps standalone app find them useless. So, happy to see Locus.

Glad to see i can access my local stored kml with Locus. However, I find MapQuest Sat imagery doesn't go down far enough. Any chance of incorporating a Microsoft or Bing Sat? i understand the licensing issues to incorporate Google Maps sat imagery but man i miss that resolution. I'm trying to locate points using trees or individual buildings as reference points. if no go, any suggestions for creating my own raster underlays?

Hi,

I'm sorry but nor Bing Maps nor Google Maps aren't supported in Locus due to terms of use. On the other hand Locus is able to import maps in *mbtiles format so you can use any own personal map for background.

Cool. So no chance of ever seeing higher res satellite?

Couod you kindly send a link for instructions on how to create mbtiles? If it helps I'm a qgis user.

Cheers

Ok i've never worked with MBTiles. Can I ask, if i run Qtiles to create a set i want to use in Locus, how do i import/transfer to be used in Locus? Thanks!

Maybe an official(!) third party App (Not supported by Locus stuff) from Google Play Store can help here.
