Guidance route/point priority

It came to my mind during discussion on topic guidance-to-next-trackpoint-not-nearest-point

that it makes sense to implement Track/Point priority for Guidance as well, similarly as for Navigation.

If point priority was set, a user would be guided always to next ( or otherwise chosen ) point of the route. ( a scenario when reaching points is desired, but particular route between them is not important )

If track priority was set, a user would be guided toward next trackpoint as the above. but keeping the route line would be guarded. ( a scenario when being on the straight lines betwen trackpoints is essential - like when areas off the track MUST be avoided. ). An off track threshold would be used. If a deviation crossed the threshold, a user would receive a changed course, to get back on the track. To avoid sharp course changes, a provided course deviation would progressively increase with offtrack deviation.

It seems like track priority is implemented - see the topic on link - but the user would prefer the point priority. ( Can be achieved in his case by point by point guidance, instead of track guidance, but may not be always convenient or usable.)

A variant for the track priority could be, that trackoff threshold would not be used, but internally the user would be guided to a point X metres ahead on the route line. Or to the trackpoint if already closer than X metres.

Hi!

It's very important option for off road competition!

In this case route line may be is not a good way.

Both route and point priority have their use in guidance.

Now Locus allows snapping to track points, but not to the structural route points.

The meaning of this idea is snapping to the specific points only. With declared coordinates and names.
