How to edit POIs (mainly description) at the PC? Or: Where is description saved?

After trying Locus a while, I`m currently doing the switch from TrekBuddy to Locus. So far, I did bigger edits of my POIs at the computer/PC, so with my big monitor & keyboard, and would like to continue to do so :-) What are proven ways to edit POIs at the PC? My POIs just have name + icon + description + altitude.

I already found one way: Export as GPX without generated additional infos (=no HTML in GPX), edit the GPX on the PC, and reimport to Locus. Locus exports with CDATA, but does not require it on re-import, so it`s OK that my PC software https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/top... resulted in a quite robust implementation :-)

I also tried with creating a Locus complete backup and opening Backup-File.zipdatadatabasewaypoints.db but inside this DB file, I did not find the descriptions with RazorSQL (uses JDBC) although the HEX editor finds it, and restoring it to a clean Locus works fine, too... Does anyone know where description is saved in the db file and how to access it?

Thanks for hints :)

Hello Georg,

unfortunately, description as well as many other parameters (like path to photos, etc.) is stored in column "extra_data" which is BLOB object and please, do not edit it directly cause it will destroy it :).

So for now, it`s not so simple way to edit POI`s, anyway! I suggest some solution like this http://www.bluestacks.com/ ... there exists `this is probably best) emulators of Android on desktop PC. In Bluestack, Locus runs really good, so you may simply take database file, put it to bluestack, and edit POI`s here. At least this for now ...

It`s a good idea to use an Android emulator so big screen+keyboard can be used, thanks for the hint :) Still, for some of my use cases, it is insufficient as Locus does not offer functions like search & replace (e.g. helpful if a company or friend`s name changed and all related POIs shall be updated). I will simply continue to do that via GPX export+edit+import - that is working fine for my needs :-) so no further action is required for me.

Note concerning GPX export+import: For GPX WPT child element "link" / POI website see https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/top...
