Solved

Loads up fine ,but when I'm zooming or scrolling after about 10 sec. The phone freezes, nothing works ,not even power . After about 1 min. Locus shuts down and phone back in order. It's the free version ,tried erasing and downloading with no improvement .

Think the map has a corrupt sqlite format.

Go to Settings, Map-Advanced, Advanced Settings.

Tick the option "Resolution of Maps"

set the "Scale Resolution" to 4.00x

doesn't make sense.

I have no idea why it works, but it does work - It is still possible to crash the app if you zoom out really far, but for normal use it works OK - Maybe it's something to do with the map format - I produced it from Global Mapper using the rmap web export of type sqlitedb.

If you want to switch back to normal vector maps you need to go back into the settings and remove the tick in the "Resolution of Maps" otherwise the other maps look bad, but for my charts it fixes the problem.

Hi Brian,

please try to tap in top action bar on label "Locus" and choose there a "Map" option. Top bar should change and you should see one number as current zoom level and second number as percents of base scale. Now please try to zoom as usually and check in which number this happen. It probably happen only when you zoom out a lot and number change to something like 15/25% right?

Hi Menion, yes you are correct - 12/25% seems to be the threshold for the crash - less zoom-out than this seems OK - But with normal use you would not need to zoom out that far so it's no big deal.

If Adrian continues to have issues I will supply him with a smaller chart of just his area in case it is the size of the full map that is causing the issue on his phone. Could available memory on his phone be an issue? The charts use six zoom levels starting at .6m per pixel (1024x1024 grid)

Brian.

Hi Menion,

I have spoken with Adrian and changing the settings as I suggested has fixed his issue.

that's a trick - not a fix for a not working map :D

I'm more than happy to fix my map if there is something I am doing wrong, so to help every one, why don't you tell me what to do rather than just making smart ass comments...

Hello Brian,

there is nothing you may do. Zoom to 25% means 4 times more map tiles. I do not know how big is screen of Adrian device, but this value is usually beyond the limits of useful usage. Some users wanted from me allow more then 50% zoom and this is result.

Thanks for understanding.

Hi Menion,

Thanks, it's not a problem, as long as the settings are changed as I described the map is reasonably stable and very useable - We do not require to zoom out further, but it can happen by accident when pinch zooming.

Thank you for a great app! :-)

You are welcome!

Because of this problem, I decided to change default minimum value of zoom scale to 50% and not 25% as is now.

And also added a new parameter "map_zoom_scale_min_percent" to config file so it will be possible to move it back to 25%.

Sorry for a troubles and thanks for report that problem with "down-scaling" still exists.

>"to 50%..."

hm i love this 25% rule

because i can download much more online tiles while moving map :)

  1. because i can download much more online tiles while moving map :)

Nice :)

You will be able to change this parameter manually even to for example 10% :)

EDIT: ah yes, sorry, back to 25%
