Locus crashes when tapping Recording profiles - Export type

Solved

Hi,

Just wanted to report a problem with settings.

This is on LocusMap Pro 3.29.2. My phone is LG Optimus L7 II, on android 4.1.2.:

Locus crashes each time when I tap on Export type in:

Settings-Track recording-Recording profiles-Foot (or Cycle or Car), then

Advanced settings-Automatic export-Export type.

I tried to restart/clean Locus/phone several times, nothing helped.

I have already noticed before some kind of instability in this part of settings in Locus Pro 3.27.1.:

1. From time to time Locus, by itself, would switch Training-auto-start to Disabled in Recording profiles-Advanced settings-Training auto start.

2. Similarly, Locus would switch, by itself, Export type from KML/KMZ to GPX, from time to time.

3. Furthermore I have noticed that Locus during automatic export of the recorded track had hard times and instead of creating one KMZ it would make several KMZs (2-4) some of them without photo POIs, some of them without doc.kml in it.

I am pretty sure in above, since I never play with this settings or presets.

I don't know if above three problems in version 3.27.1 are related to the first problem I described above in version 3.29.2. Also I don't know if they still exist in the latest version since I haven't checked it yet.

Hi Svjetlana,

I can't simulate your problem - I don't have the same device/Android configuration at my disposal. Therefore, please repeat the faulty action and create a bugreport and post it here for analysis. How to make one: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log

Hi Michal,

I have tried to make that bugreport as explainded on your above link without success. When I do it through Developer Options in Settings, nothing happened, no report is generated, no message, no option to send it.

CatLog application seems to require rooted phone.

Your Link to ADB installer on the page you gave above, doesn't work.

I will try to play with obtaining bugreport a little more and will revert.

Thanks,

Svjetlana

Hi Svjetlana, we've got a problem with the cloud server the ADB is stored on. Later today I will try to store it elsewhere and send you a link.

Hi Michal,

I have found ADB on xda-developers and made bugreport which is herewith attached. I also attach my settings backup. Hope this will reveal cause of the problem.

Thanks,

Svjetlana

Good day Svjetlana,

thank you for a bug report. Indeed issue exists and happen only on 4.0 and 4.1 devices. Sorry, we did not tested one improvement properly.

Issue will be fixed in next version.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any of other three mentioned problems. First two looks like some problem with storing internal preferences. Hard to solve as it seems to be problem with size of Locus & what was expected app size mainly on 4.x devices. For now, simply unsolvable. Third problem is more interesting and seems I'll have to start took some images to be able to simulate issue on own device ...

Hi Menion,

Thank you for your quick response and the fix for the issue.

Regarding the last three problems, I didn't noticed them before version 3.27.1. Also, I don't know if they exist in the latest version 3.29.2. since I haven't checked it yet. Even if they still exist, I can leave with those problems. So if fixing of them is too much time consuming, you may forget them, as far as I am concerned.

Thanks,

Svjetlana

Good evening,

first two issues (if they are really caused by problem in how Android handle internal preferences) is well known to me and you are not the first who write me that "something has changed" without own influence. Anyway as I wrote, it does not have a simple solution, but I'll keep this in my mind. Sorry for a complications that this cause.

Menion
