Solved

Hi,

Since version 3.16.0 we have the problem that pictures are not shown in geocaches. With a file manager we can find and open the pictures on the device but they are not shown in Locus.

Regards

Good day eislady,

this is really interesting. I was discussing same problem with one guy two days ago. After a lot of testing we found that he had enabled settings > geocaching > Auto-load images . Unfortunately this settings seems to affect also local images, not just some remote images.

May you check it please on own device? Thank you. Also, it is possible that you changed this settings manually or by accident? Because won't be the first time, that some settings change to any user without his will and this is really weird as Locus use only standard mechanisms generally used in all applications.

Hello Menion,

we tried both, enabling and disabling this option on two devices (LG G4 with Android 6.0 and S5 mini with Android 5.1.1) and had the same result: No pictures shown.

But after downloading the files, we can see the horizontal lines which are normally shown between the pictures and the subtitles/names of the pictures (e.g. "Spoiler").

We found out that it seams to be a problem with the GC Offlinizer. When loading a cache (with option "load pictures always" enabled), everything is fine. But when then using the GC Offlinizer, the pictures are not shown anymore.

When you do not use GC offlinizer, Locus do not download images to device, just show them directly downloaded from internet. GC Offlinizer downloads images to your Locus/data/geocaching directory so they may be used offline.

What I wrote before is that we found that images downloaded with GC Offlinizer are not shown in case, "Auto-load images" is disable in settings. This is anyway not your problem you wrote.

Is same problem happen with all caches? I have unfortunately no idea what may cause this, so I would like to test one cache that cause you troubles, is same problem happen to me as well. Thank you and sorry for a complications.

A bit more testing and we can say now, that it seams to be the "auto-load images" setting after all.

The problem is, that this option has to be activated before opening the first geocache after locus start. When this option is set later, no pictures are shown. That is probably the reason why I could not see any picture yesterday. (Tested with Wifi off and mobile data off on my phone.)

But when this option needs to be enabled, this is a problem for me, because I don't have much data volume and that is the reason why I only load the pictures when I need them.

Or sometimes I load them at home using Wifi. But how can I make sure that Locus uses the offline stored files instead of loading them from the Internet when I have the auto-load option on?

With the previous version of Locus I had no problems when the auto-load option was disabled.

Hello Menion,

you fix the problems faster than I can report :-)

Many thanks!!

You are right, the pics are displayed now, but I still got 2 tabs "Bilder/Pics".

Hi, perfect it works.

Double tabs ... this is small weird feature in geocaching4Locus that cause this. Somewhere in G4L settings is option to download also images. This anyway do not directly download images to SD card like "GC offlinizer". It only create list of images that Locus place into separate tab. So try before downloading caches over G4L, disable this settings. It should help.
