Private parking should not be in POI database
Gathering feedback
AFAIK according to the OSM standard, private parking should not be rendered as a parking icon. Consequently it shouldn't be in the Locus POI database, or Locus POI overlays should respect the map theme and not display private parking as an icon.
Hi John, are you sure that POI database contain private parking places? The parking places should not be in POI DB at all (in case that you use the official release downloaded from Locus store)
When in comes to vector maps - Locus internal themes render the parking only in case that parameter "access" = "public" or this parameter is not defined (the most of situations).
Basically I agree that private parking places should not be in POI db

Sorry, you are right - I was using an outdated beta POI file I downloaded while this feature was in trial together with a map from OpenAndroMaps with the same name.
You are correct about the rendering of the map but the updated POI files do not seem to contain any parking points at all.

I've just updated my reply above to say that the updated POI database does not seem to include ANY parking points at all. I would like to be able to use this feature to find a possible parking place in a strange town.

Yes, that's correct. I didn't probably express correctly in my first post. We decided to remove parking places to improve the performance of POI DB. I guess that every fifth POI was the parking point. However better filtering of non-public parking points would help to solve this issue.

Aha. That all makes sense.

Cruiser with the original mapsforge POI DB is not killed by Parking lots. So why would Locus suffer ?
Also: as long as Locus binds the POI DB download to LoMaps, Menion should just include the full mapsforge library that supports POI search out of the box.

There are still some unwanted parking places? Hmm ... Petr, please look at it!

I'm not sure if I can understand you. There should not be any parking POIs in DB at all. Could I ask you for screenshoot and version of LoMaps you use, please?

I am arguing that there SHOULD be Parking in the database !
Mapsforge library (and Cruiser) gets that done, so Locus should be able to do, too, right ?
