Problem with ww15mgh.dac
Not a Problem
Hello,
I got "Problem with ww15mgh.dac" when starting Locus. I checked the given folder, but the file is not there. Do I have to download it?
I do not see any trouble running Locus, but want remove this message. Is use "Automatische Korrektur" in the hight manager
Thx!
Hi,
when you oepn "Altitude manager" and check if you have enabled "Automatic correction" and press OK again, Locus should offer you download of missing file again. Is this happen?
When this file is missing, "Automatic correction" won't work, so this file is required.

Menion, if you get to it, please move that file to a different folder.
The reasoning is that the SRTM folder has user-controlled content, so the user can easily get the idea to erase all content. That was what I had done, only to get hammered by the error message.

Ah so this was the problem.
Understand your request, anyway I cannot agree that folder is "user-controled". I believe all common users do not touch this folder manually. I also never did it.
Anyway I'm glad that this was so simple issue. Fine.

Given that the name of the folder is “SRTM”, I agree with the original poster that it would be better to store the ww15mgh.dac file in some general application folder of Locus. Not because of the name of the folder, but because of what that folder is used for.
Anyway, I just started to find out what this ww15mgh.dac file is, because I was about to delete the content of the SRTM folder, which is actually populated by lots of .hgt files BY ME, THE USER.
My related questions:
1) If there aren’t .hgt files present when selecting “Fill altitude” command, will Locus download a file to this folder; or Locus only looks up the data, stores that in the track file, but actually doesn’t download any .hgt files in this location when “Fill altitude” command is selected?
2) If Locus downloads .hgt files (in case the required files are missing locally) when selecting “Fill altitude” command, then how granular those downloaded .hgt files are? 3” arc second, 90 meters; or 1” arc second 30 meters?
3) If the user chooses to download .hgt files with a LoMap, then how granular those downloaded .hgt files are? 3” arc second, 90 meters; or 1” arc second 30 meters?
