Routing and rerouting in offline mode

Hello, i have a few questions about Locus. I am using the free version, but i think, the features i am seeking, arent eighter in the pro version, and i am using vector maps:

1) there is no offline navigation?

2) there is no offline database for cities and pois?

3) due to 1 and 2 - there is no offline rerouting

4) if there is no routing feature in the offline modus, should be at least a feature to show heading and distance of an destination, but i can not find it??

assumed, there are no features from 1 to 4) - which would be a use for a nagivation system, if it is not navigating? of course most people are online in their home country. but the real need for such a programm is abroad and thats the region most of the users will be offline. i am a worldwide traveller an i would appriciate, if i could navigate in both of the modi (routing and non routing) offline.

maybe there are the functions and i cann not finde them? i mean, there are gps sensor and storage, for what do i need to be online?

thx for your answers in advance,

lkpp

Locus uses the library Mapsforge to display vector maps. This library doesn`t offer 2), 3) and what is even more important for offline/onboard navigation it doesn`t provide calculation of routes in the current version.

You might want to have a look on the statements of one of the core developers of mapsforge: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/map...

Thx tommi. I think i will have to search for another software which provides my needs.

Tell me if you found another software for this purpose (except the professional navigation solutions)!

i will do, even if iam not specially searching for a fee-free solution. but it will be not in the android field, i think. can you answer my pont 4? a freind says, it would work offline, but i cannot fix it, because, even if i search a finish by the map, i dont get a heading and a distance. (GPS is working, of course.) it says than: " no finish defiend"....

thx lkpp

If I understand correctly what you mean I would say it works.

Please check

http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...

"invalid distance".

If you leave the calculated route Locus changes to Guiding which means that it shows you the direction and distance to the next point on the calculated route.

I used this successfully in a foreign town and streets which couldn`t be accessed in the intended direction e.g.

I just bought LocusPro and also wondering about offline Address search. Also bought OsmAnd+ which uses *.obf vector maps - which are OSM maps with additional information - OsmAnd does this quite well - although it lacks route tracking and stuff.

Also the maps there look a bit more detailed.

Maybe Locus could make use of these kind of maps?

unfortunately not tombert. OsmAnd use own improved system and reading and rendering mechanism that is licensed under GPL license so it`s useless for Locus

offline address search and offline routing depend on MapsForge library for now, so if this will be available or not is question ...

Whatever library you use, there is free and open source https://code.google.com/p/osmand/ project that provides offline address search, and offline routing. I`m not a license kid, but I think you could make use of it.

Hi Dusan,

I exactly on this answered in last post on this page ;). License that OsmAnd use, is not usable for Locus.

It seems, address search facility is now available with LoMaps.

Cheers
