Working with a 'project'..with tracks and waypoints...

Hello. I have recently found Locus Map Pro and I am working towards having it replace my hand-held GPS so I can get down to one device to carry (phone/gps/camera/etc).

Is there any way to group waypoints and tracks and belong together, rather than having the tracks in one area and the points in another?

EX: Last summer I started a personal project where I want to track/wade/fish my favourite fly-fishing river. With Mapsource I can keep one GPS for "River Project"..in that GPX, I have waypoints I make on the river, and also the tracks I record while fishing. There are multiple tracks, because I may just fish a section here and there, and plan to eventually have the whole river tracked. Again, it's just a personal thing I want to do....

So, is there a way to move that GPX, (both tracks and waypoints) into Locus so all the 'River Project" data can live in its own area? It appears that waypoints must 'live' in one area, and tracks in another. Possibly even tags..virtual folder...?

I looked at using Map Items, but honestly don't understand it well enough, and it looks like data would be grouped together but not able to edit or save it......correct?

I've actually solved this myself. I had never experimented with using 'Groups'. I had assumed that Groups would tag items, etc...the way I started using it, would be as though it was called 'Folders'.

Hi Andrew,

one of many powers of Locus is that it offers multiple ways how to get what you need. For example when you import your "river project" GPX, just check the "Merge points with tracks" option and points won't be imported to an extra folder. See the relating chapter of the User guide: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:data_import#import_dialog

cheers
