If the starting point of the route (1) is not on any road, the route planner generates the route from the nearest point of the nearest road. It is similar with the end of the route (3). The route looks like Figure 1.
I suggest that the LocusMap add the actual starting point (1) and the end point (3) to the generated route. The route would then look like Figure 2.
