Android Auto - Tracks move at different rate than the map

When driving with Locus displaying on the car screen, the tracks and waypoints are moving at a different rate than the map. When I zoom in/out or move the map, the tracks reset back to where they are supposed to be. They then start moving independent of the map.
It almost feels like the tracks are rendering on a different layer than the map.
