GPS cursor points to last direction when not moving

When having stopped, I would rather like to see the moving cursor reflect the last direction instead of the GPS cursor. Obviously, I can customize the cursors and replace the GPS cursor with the moving cursor, but the GPS cursor always points up. So my suggestion is to rotate the GPS cursor according to the last moving direction. One would "enable" this feature, meaning making it visible, by just using an icon set with a modified GPS cursor - no additional option needed and all freedom preserved regarding cursor design.

I think the only challenge implementation-wise is to get a good sample for the last moving direction because of the slow speeds before stopping which makes the direction signal rather noisy.
