"low contrast" map display
It would be nice having the option to freely control the contrast value in "Map color mode". Moreover, it would be nice having a control for the brightness of the map. The goal is to increase the contrast between track information (including cursors) and the map, for which changing both luminance and color (saturation) is useful.
Obviously, it is not always desirable to impair the readibility of the map this way, but currently there seems no other way of switching this feature on or off but diving into the setting menu. Maybe the on/off switch could be provided as an action that can be selected into the panel.
I wonder whether switching automatically between low and normal contrast would be feasible. After having switched on the screen, I first need to assess where the track is, so low contrast map is better. But shortly after (measured in seconds) I need to actually see the details on the map, so normal map contrast would be better.
To those who might think that this is all unnecessary gimmicks: I also think it is, except you are using the program for bicycle riding, which usually means that the screen needs to be switched off most of the time in order to save power. Starting from fresh after the screen has been switched on makes re-assessment of the displayed information much harder as compared to when the screen is always on and you can track the changes as they occur. For safety reasons, you want to spent as little time as possible looking at the display and the "low contrast" can be helpful in speeding up the re-assessment. So it is basically a safety feature I am talking about here.
