New Quick Point using map centre instead of GPS

Under SETTINGS > MAPS > POINTS & TRACKS > NEW POINT DEFAULT LOCATION I have selected "GPS FIXED POSITION" however when I add a new Quick Point, it uses my map centre, not GPS location.
My theory is that quick points are best for field data collection, therefore GPS position is most common use.
Can the settings above apply to Quick Points as well as regular points?
