Calibrate the compass

Hi

By this time, I have used one of the applications from Google Play to calibrate the compass. After updating this application, I see ads that are often annoying. I downloaded another application for calibrating the compass, but it also has bored advertising.

I'm wondering why by this time the locus does not have its own function for calibrating sensors

I understand that, for calibration, you do not need anything special, enough to figure out the figure 8, but you could not add at least some kind of hint at the need for calibration.

I propose to implement it in the following way so that the map rotation button notifies the color change about the need for calibration, just like the gps button or live-tracking in the panel. Green - does not need to be calibrated, yellow or red - requires calibration

Hi Yaroslav,

you don't need any application for calibrating compass, just turn your device in 8 shaped direction (http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_calibrate_compass). On the other hand, Locus does not have an information about compass being not calibrated - Locus takes compass data from your device - only user can recognize it is not calibrated.

If you need to calibrate gyro sensors, place your device on a horizontal surface and tap the tilt monitors on the compass screen (http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tools:gps#compass)

Hi Michael,

calibrate gyro sensors doesn't work in Locus 3.38.3

Taping in compass screen on the monitors only highlight them, but does nothing to the displayed value.

Hi Stephan,

I can't simulate it - tapping the tilt monitors triggers a popup label with "Calibrate" and "Default" options. What phone do you use?

Hi Michael,

thanks for your reply.

I don't get a popup label, only the surrounding circle get highlighted.

My phone is a Sony Z3compact

Hi Stephan,

for now, we are sorry, we need more feedback from more users and more testing - so far we can't simulate this issue.

Thanks Michael,

i have tested on an other Z3compact (fresh Locus install), same behave.

But it must worked on an older Locus version, because the tilt is zero, when mounted on my bike.

(this was in summer last year, when i calibrate it)

Then i used my Blackberry Passport, older Locus version, here i saw what u mean with the popup(here it work as intended)

@ Stefan. I tested on A9 Xiamo MI A2 Lite. Tilt sensors: A SHORT tap > pop up > calibrate
