Auto power off screen.

I propose to change the algorithm of the screen's auto-shutdown.

If the screen has been turned on manually, it can not be turned off automatically until it is manually turned off again. This screen control algorithm is used in the Osmand program and it is very convenient.

Uff ...

I would have tolerated this option if I retained this current functionality.

Choosing options.

For many people, this functionality is just right.

Typical use is sometimes to look at the map (manually), but I expect the application to continue working in the set mode (auto off).

I do not want to do another (unnecessary) activity.

Especially when driving by car, motorcycle or bike.

I think this mode is just for these activities.

Tip-trick

I have the on/off and auto/off button in the right panel. This is a quick mode change.

It is assumed:

1 - if you turn off the screen manually, the screen will automatically turn on and off.

2 - if you turn on the screen manually, the screen should remain on until you turn it off manually. Further see 1.

Thus, all the existing functionality will be completely preserved.

config.cfg > Line 278 - 279

# Disable "Turn off if idle" when screen was turn on by gesture (default: false)

turn_on_screen_by_gesture_disable_auto_screen_off=1

Use case: Phone mount on bike handlebar !

- Cycling with screen off (power saving) At navigation: Display > Auto Screen on/off control enable. Near complex streets I prefer a continuously "screen on" .

- Control by gesture (single) wave: Keep Screen On > next (single) wave > Screen Off = Back to previous state: Auto screen on/off control at navigate.
