Elevation data download fail Locus Map Italy

Developer knows about this (mysterious) problem.

Currently another solution is to manually download data, unzip and save it to a folder /Locus/data/srtm

For example from here

I'm sorry for troubles and thanks to Condor for help. We found out that some devices struggle with unpacking of downloaded elevation data that cause mentioned issue. We'll try to prepare new elevation data in next days. Until fix please try to download data manually as Condor mentioned. Please download elevation data (see link below) > unzip files and copy unpacked *.hgt data into folder /Locus/data/srtm. Elevation data can be manually downloaded from:

http://viewfinderpanoramas.org/dem3.html or http://data.opendataportal.at/dataset/dtm-italy

thank you very much, the last log helped. We found an issue in Italian translation: https://crowdin.com/translate/menion/3292/en-it#6647013 . There should be %s and not %d as someone incorrectly translated. Will be fixed in next version.

As a workaround you can temporarily change language from Italian to English and download needed data.

Or simply provide us the elevation data for the south...

Many thanks for the answer!!!I have now the elevation data of the north Italy I need...I will wait for the new elevation data in the next days...Only one note, since I also work with software, I doesn't seem to me that the download started because, in my case, it fails immediatly, while it have to download about 30MB of data and I expect that will require some seconds...May be this help in debugging...

thank you for info. I'll discuss it with the main developer but it really seems that data are downloaded but not unpacked. However I updated the elevation data on the server. Would you please try to download some part that you didn't downloaded manually? For example south Italy?

Thanks for the test but it's really strange. Could I ask you for another test. Would you please try to download elevation data for some country in America (eq. Cuba)?

Unfortunately it's not working for me, neither the Cuba download...I've tried three different download methods...Only the last one seems, sometimes, to work...

1) Directly in the Locus store with the offline Locus maps, by pressing on the offline elevation data download...

2) If I enable the OSM online maps and I enable the Map shading, when I move on a map where I don't have the elevation data, the app suggest me to download it...

3) If I plan a route and I don't have the elevation data, it suggest me to download it and sometimes it works fine...

Are there any other way to try the download?May be it depends on the dimensions of the data to download?

I've good and reliable connection...

Thank you for the tests. I have to say that all three methods use the same elevation data and data are downloaded in the same way. The are for downloading also should not influence it. I again discuss it with the main developer if there are any possibilities how to improve/fix.

Dear Francesco - could I ask you for creation of debug log, please? How to do it is described in http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log

Basically:

• please try to download elevation data
• wait for error message
• collect the debug log via Android settings as described in mentioned article.

Thank you for the log file. Unfortunately the log doesn't contain any useful info. We little bit change the way how data are downloaded - I would ask you for another test as soon as new version will be available.

Mi dispiace per i problemi. Sfortunatamente è piuttosto complicato perché non siamo in grado di simularlo. Abbiamo migliorato la registrazione nella prossima versione che potrebbe darci maggiori informazioni su questo problema. Posso solo suggerire di seguire la soluzione: Si prega di scaricare i dati di elevazione (vedi link sotto)> decomprimere i file e copiare i dati decompressi *. Hgt nella cartella / Locus / data / srtm. I dati di quota possono essere scaricati manualmente da:
