Create a copy of track without navigation commands

The 2 attached tracks are identical except for the name but the copy should not have any waypoints.

The file test.gpx was created by adding a track with start and end point, then edited and a single mid point converted to a navigation command.

The 2nd file was created as a copy but has unticked "Generate commands". In the past all commands were then removed. Useful when reversing the track.

However when displayed or exported, note that the navigation command (waypoint) still exists. This function used to work correctly a few months ago. I currently have to manually deleted the navigation command or create the new track from scratch.

Good day Andrew,

are you 100% sure that it worked as you describe?

Because purpose of "Generate commands" checkbox is definitely to GENERATE navigation commands on a track, not to remove existing waypoints! What you wants looks for me like some selection if we

1. wants to keep waypoints as are now

2. remove all waypoints on track

3. remove all waypoints on track and generate new navigation commands

But it do not work in this way. So I think, this is not a problem.

hmm, sorry, you are probably 100% correct. Up until now I used this feature just as a test. It was only my recent trip where the feature would have been very useful. You can see the current issue - I have an outward track containing manually added waypoints/ navigation commands. If I reverse the track to "come back home" these waypoints won't be appropriate (eg. opposite turn direction, not best position). A 2nd checkbox would be all that is needed - "Keep existing commands", and then rename existing "Generate commands" to "Generate new commands". This provides maximum flexibility but the wording better describes the intention.

Maybe I should create a new topic?

Hmm understand.

When you create a new topic, it will probably forever lost in huge amount of other topics, so let's solve it now.

I've added Petr and Michal to this topic, so they may give us another option or help to choose.

From my point of view, in this simple "copy" dialog is already too much options so another checkbox should cause only a mess. What about some chooser with possible options, like:

Title: track waypoints

Options:

- keep all (default)

- remove navigation commands

- generate new navigation commands

This should cover all possible needs, right? It consider that all non-navigation waypoint are useful and should not be removed at all.

EDIT: I've changed title of this topic and also changed "problem" to "idea".

Yep, excellent way forward. Great outcome.

Well You shouldn't ask me :) Because from my point of view are all options wrong :) I see that options are useful but why should COPY feature contains "EDIT" function? However back to question:

- menion are you able to reverse navigation order automatically? If yes than option "remove navigation commands" is not needed. When user select "reverse track" then expect that everything is reversed. If yes then you don't need any chooser. I know that position of waypoint on track is quite tricky but you can probably move it along the track. :)

My solution is quite complicated so suggested chooser covers all needs but rename first option from Keep All to Copy all

Waypoints are already reversed when you create a reverse track, but not always make it sense. Roundabouts, some one-way roads, etc. So it is not so simple to "reverse a track".

Oki, "copy all" is better, agree.

Petr, I manually place each waypoint (nav command) about 100m before the intended decision point because I only turn on the display once, and only for ~20s. Automatic reversal of waypoint directions would be a poor compromise because the waypoint(s) may be in a different position (or not even exist) for the reversed track.

Hmm I'm thinking about it and have to say that Petr is correct. Manipulation with waypoints during copy of a track is not a perfect. Same with existing option "Generate commands".

I'm thinking where to place both features .... they both are related to work with waypoints. So please remind me this idea, once this: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/is-there-a-list-of-waypoints-in-a-track , will be completed. Then it will make a sense to place "Generate commands" and also "Remove commands" into tab with list of existing waypoints (commands)- Thanks for understanding.
