Problem with map adding
Solved
Hi,
I downloaded 5 maps from OpenAndroMaps (http://www.openandromaps.org/downloads/europa) on my rooted Samsung S5 to use them offline in Locus and c:geo. Unfortunately, 3 of the 5 maps cannot be opened by both apps. Here is a screenshot of the Locus problem report.
Can anybody help?
Thanks!

Good day Prin,
"Invalid magic byte" usually means incorrectly downloaded map. Because it do not work in both app, I really suggest to download it once more.

Thanks, but I already downloaded the maps twice and that did not help :(

Did you download on a PC and tried to view them there ? Vectorial Map (trial is free) or Cruiser would do that job on a PC.
If they work there, transfer them to your S5.
BTW: which maps are the failing ones ?

I now removed/copied again all the maps, and uninstalled/re-installed both maps, with the results that still one of the offline maps do not work (another one than before, the last of the list with the same report "invalid magic byte"). The data can be opened on my PC by Cruiser, that was no problem.
Any other ideas?

Have to be some problem in your "copy" mechanism. What about inserting your SD card to computer and copy data on PC and not in mobile? Did you tried this?

perhaps an idea ....
- rename your folder "Karten" to "mapsVector" with file manager
- delete selected "Default directory" and restart Locus
- set new path to your mapVector and restart Locus

I now tried to copy the map that was not working to another folder on the phone... Now all maps work but they are in two different folders: 4 working maps on the SD-card and one on the phone, where memory is scarce. Crazy!
That shows that the problem is neither the files nor the copy mechanism...
Is there a limitation of how many maps are shown?

nope, no limits. Error on your screenshot is really only possible, when map file is incorrect, so internal loader cannot read it. Hmm weird, not sure how may I help you as I do not remember that such problem occur last months. Is that possible verification of downloaded files over MD5/checksum? Not sure if owner of OpenAndroMaps supports it.

Hi Menion,
I have the same problem that Princha since i reset my locus apk
Only sqlitedb loaded with locus works. (not sqlitedb from for example mpc2mapc)
Rmaps and vector maps wich works fine last year bug now.
I tried to load them from sd of internal, but no success.
I think that i had problems to load raster maps since Locus Map_3.21.1 so i used old version locusfree_343_3.5.3_release.apk, locusfree_451_3.15.3_release.apk
I think that problem occur during the start of the apk when apk require 4g connection to begin.
I am so disappointed and hope you'l fine the solution.
