Want old settings of Auto Zoom Level back!
Declined
In previous versions of Locus Pro, there was an option for fine adjustment the zoom level depending on speed.
I want that function back!!!
I have a phone with a big screen with own dpi settings.
The Zoom is set always too far. When I stand with my car on a junction I can see nearly the whole city.
I would like to set the viewpoint closer!
Please VOTE for me! :)
Thats how it should looks like again:
Sorry Stephan, auto-zoom in a way you remember, won't come back.
It was not a good solution. Seems that alternative request already exists, so feel free to vote for this topic: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/auto-zoom-levels
This idea is declined for now.

Yes please, i miss this ability.

Any news to that topic?
Please put more options to the Autozoom.
I think its a main feature and there is no more options to adjust to their own needs.
Menion, could you help??
Thanks al lot!

Sorry Stephan, can't. I still do not agree with this idea and number of votes do not convince me.
I still believe there is possibility to define optimal zoom level for car, bike, foot. So if you do not like current values, try to write me (not just You), combinations of speed vs zoom level and I'll try to compare and adjust current hard-coded values. That's best I can do for you now.

Hello Menion,
many thanks for your quick response.
Please see the attached Screenshot from my Phone.
I'm driving with nearly zero speed, but I can see all streets in the next 500m around me.
I think the autozoom should go closer in that situation. Thats to far for small street situations.
It's not understandable for me that nobody else seems to have the same problem. :(
I think autozoom should be adjustable for everyone's needs. Don't you agree? ;)

Can't vote for "old system" because old system is also not so good.
About your screenshot: in my case, with 0.0 speed i want to have a overview of map.
You see, two user and two opinions.
The best way would be free adjustable autozoom profiles. (foot, bike, car, plane,...)
...but that's not the point of this idea here and maybe the reason of low numbers of votes.

Right gynta, that is the point.
Imagine basic user who is glad he finally see some map and is able to start navigation. And hey "automatic zoom", perfect, that's what I need - his inner voice.
Exchange new "Automatic zoom" settings to old system. And hey "automatic zoom", but what is this? 30km/h and weird number 18, 19, 20, wtf? Completely useless.
So except this topic and it's four votes, we do not received any critics over email etc. So I see no reason to return back to old, useless system. Gynta's suggestion - completely new, better system should be better. But I still again and again repeat - for me, best and currently only solution is fully automatic system with optimized parameters for three main navigation styles - car, bike, foot.
Which is what currently Locus do. These are hard-coded parameters. First bracer always define speed, second define zoom level (increased by 8 compare to what you see on map).
Bike:
zoom = {0, 15, 30, 100}, {26, 25, 24, 23}
Foot:
zoom = {0, 15, 30, 100}, {27, 26, 25, 24}
Car or undefined:
zoom = {0, 50, 100, 200}, {26, 25, 24, 21}

Wow I'm impressed by the massive input to that topic :)

Be more flexible. Thats what I mean. More free adjustment. Maybe just for pro users.
But I'm a bit confused. How to switch between car, bike, foot autozoom?
"Exchange new "Automatic zoom" settings to old system. And hey "automatic zoom", but what is this? 30km/h and weird number 18, 19, 20, wtf? Completely useless."
BTW: I think most users understand or with try and error, how old system was working. If not, press help...
Maybe, some "expert view" setting could be helpful?

Menion, ok.
I go for "Auto zoom levels - manual settings"
http://help.locusmap.eu/subscribe/2779/2289/0
I was bit confused if he wants the same as me and how the second issue stands to the first.
But in generally he wants a more flexible way for Auto Zooming and thats what I want as well. :)
So thanks and hopefully we get more votes in the future :)

Dear Menion,
could you tell me what's the last version of Locus Pro with the "old" Auto Zoom functionality was and where I can download that version??
Probably I will switch back because the actual auto zoom doesn't work for me. It was one of my main reasons to buy the pro version.
Thanks a lot! :)

Hi, I've used autozoom for years now with my own values and was very happy with that. Today at 100 km/h with the new version Locus only zoomed out to 16, and I couldn't see far enough, so I had to adjust the zoom manually on the Autobahn at that speed - that's simply dangerous!
So I want the possibility of manual adjustment back, too, as so many others. Why not OFFER BOTH: YOUR PREDEFINED autozoom AND the old MANUAL adjustment possibility?
In all those years, I've been using Locus, your team has reacted very sensibly to proposals of us users, also to mine - but in this case, it looks like you're not interested in what we users want. For whom are you developing Locus, for us users or for somebody else?
So, I hope, you'll come back to your good service, I and all the other users liked so much till now.
Best regards,
Wilfried Viebahn

New auto zoom is horrible!

I never said, it won't be changed. I said, that I won't return back old settings.
Auto-zoom anyway needs to be improved, I'm well aware of it.

Sorry for my sarcastic comment. Thread should be used for real discussion about the topic!

Couldn't you just add an advanced auto zoom option and when enabled simply use the old settings? Seems like that would be the least amount of development time and satisfy most all users.

I use to show tracks in Locus Pro and I just follow these tracks without navigation.
And on my motorcycle I need an appropriate autozoom profile - which might be different to a profile for cycling or hiking.
