Distance from current position to selected point on track

Menion, I just realised that the most frequent question, if following a route and out in the wilds, is not answered by Locus directly:

"Wait. What's the (on track) distance from here until... the next hut?"

This simple question comes up so often... Somebody asks you "how far until...?" The answer could be presented in the trackpoint popup or in the new point info.

Currently I do the maths with values which are presented. E. g. (targets distance from start) minus (currentpos distance from start).

I use the 2 finger distance measurement. Going fast. But of course it shows only the crow flies. This function only makes sense if LOCUS calculates the distance based on a routing.

Yes, this is what I tried to say. When navigating. Distance along the track.

Hi guys,

the feature will be added in the next 4.1 version. The value will be visible instead of the current aerial distance in the trackpoint detail. As seen on the screenshot, the value is, of course, higher than the aerial value visible on the map.

This is really useful, thanks. I think I will use it a lot. Awesome.

According to the release notes this was implemented in v4,1.0. I still seem to be seeing distance "as the crow flies". Is there a problem or is it just me misunderstanding something ? Is it working for others ?

Well spotted, I didn't recognize it! It's bugged... I had a closer look and made measurements:

It shows the correct value just for a fraction of a second, then changes to the smaller, straight line distance!

Easy to see when you create a big route ending at the starting point. Then it shows like 9.5km->17m

Navigation must be on!

Tapio, do you have enabled GPS in the app? Hmm, I'm sure it worked correctly ... will have to check it.

Hi Menion, yes, it was an "offline test", but now I tested: same behaviour with GPS on.

Oki, thanks guys. I probably see a reason for this incorrect behavior. So next try in the next version.
