Heart Rate strap over BLE (not working for me)

Antonio Vilar shared this problem 9 years ago
Solved

I have a Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3 and a "Cardiosport HRM" strap (BT Smart)

The combination works fine with Endomondo and Wahoo Fitness apps, however I can’t get it working with Locus Pro 2.20.2 (or the current Test version 2.20.2.8)

I go into "Bluetooth manager", enable the "Heart rate monitor (BT 4.0)" switch, whereupon Locus brings up the "Paired devices" dialogue for me to choose one, which of course is wrong, as there is no pairing in BT Smart.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but no joy.

Please help! I want to use the strap with my favourite mapping app (Locus of course!!)

Are you sure there is no "Pairing"? Because I have paired BT sensor and it then works in Locus correctly

That's what the manual that came with the device says.

Also, the other 2 apps worked 1st time without pairing; at least not the traditional BT pairing at the OS level, although they do perform some kind of "association" at the app level.

Hmm it's new information for me, thanks. I'll check it during June.

Anyway till then, you may use same system as I mentioned above. Try it and let me know if it works for you.

That is the very 1st thing I did after purchase: I put the strap on and went straight into Android's BT pairing (without even looking at the manual. Who reads manuals !!??)

After 10 minutes of cursing and wandering why this wasn't working, I headed over to the manual, which categorically stated not to attempt traditional BT pairing.

Please see "Secure Simple Pairing (SSP)" -> "Just works" here:

Interesting thanks for link.

For me it works on Sony Z1 and SGS2 without problem. Anyway if it do not work for you, than unfortunately I have no time on this now. We just prepare new version, which is planned on today. So I'll check it more precisely during next week, sorry.

That's fine. I waited for over a year for the S3 to truly support BT 4.0, so I can wait another week to get in on Locus. Will use one of the other apps in the meantime.

Hello Antonio,

so, issue is fixed now. Will work correctly (hope) in next version (end of June). After you did some small test, I'll gladly listed if it works correctly.

Thanks for report!

Great! Can't wait.

Will we see it in beta version first or will it go into release right away?

nono, there will be a beta on 100%. I just don't know if during next few days or later in the end of June. I have around 8 days vacation between (since monday) and version is not yet fully ready to beta test, so I cannot promise. Anyway if you are registered as beta tester, you'll for sure notice update.
