REST and SOAP support for WMS maps?

What are the chances of adding REST and SOAP support? I really like the WMS map overlays but some sites don`t use it. Thanks!

Hello Sten,

do you know about any public WMS service with different access mechanism?

It`s an ArcGIS REST interface (http://goo.gl/t83cj) for property boundaries that I was looking into.

After playing around with it I found the service directory (http://goo.gl/bTcov) with supported interfaces but it doesn`t have WMS only SOAP and REST. Thanks Menion!

ah sorry, I was little confused at start, now I understand. I thought you want support for some special WMS map that are accessible just over REST interface.

Hmm I`m not familiar with ArcGIS, but your map leads to this configuration site https://gis.oakgov.com/ArcGIS/rest/se... ... so your idea is to add support for one of ArcGIS definion files at top, so Locus should be able to read ArcGIS maps over REST interface right?

I`m checking KMZ (Google Earth) map from above link and it almost works except one problem, that should be fixed. But I`m aware that Google Earth solution isn`t best.

Yes that is it exactly. ArcGIS has an app (http://goo.gl/bRXuz) the gallery has lots of maps showing tons of data form soil, flood plains, average $ spent on pets, and some really nice detailed satellite and aerial photos.

I thought it would be neat if these could be added as a Locus overlay like WMS maps...

Thanks for the fast reply. You are one of the most active and responsive developers I`ve come across. Locus is the best, I love it :)

Just to revive the subject. Any chance to have REST and SOAP implemented soon ?

I have added this task to "Locus GIS" category (on right side). It will be even more important there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV9kbpU3ajU

Anyway soon ... probably not. Depend on time. I would like to, but cannot promise now, sorry.
