Custom sub-directory "data/geocaching"

(I'm opening this idea because of the advice handed in https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/26765-custom-sub-directory-datageocaching-missing )

Locus v3.56.4 on Android 6:

It's not possible right now to define the location of "data/geocaching", so it's being placed on the private folder of internal storage. Please make this Geocaching images folder configurable too, to be moved to external SD-card. Because Geocaching images can take quite an enormous amount of memory.

The location of this folder could be defined in the past, since some weeks it's been removed from settings. It's a similar situation as with "data/srtm" - which kept configurable.

It is possible to define the location of this data on the extSD in the private folder.

both

with LMP >menion.android.locus.pro

as well as

with LM4 >menion.android.locus

the screenshot is from LM4

Right, I've implemented it a moment before Sonny created this idea and included this into just published app versions. Enjoy it.

Would LM4 also allow ANY other, non private folder? Like it can do for other sub-dirs?

Other sub-dirs? It works only for the backup manager. All other directories currently need a private directory. For geocaching data is doable also user-selected directory, but it is a lot of work and I'm not convinced that it is worth it yet.

I'm lost: I have external map folders, root level /Locus base folder, ... with LM4, not LMP

What exactly you have set? We are little offtopic here btw :).

Your setup is most probably because of "All files access" permission.

Exactly, LM4 provides the option to use "All files access", so people can enjoy the freedom this gives.

Any my question was if that freedom applies to the geocaching, too.

I have updated now and had a look: the geocaching resides in its /sdcard/Locus sub-dir (i.e. default). Beyond this default it only offers the private folders.

Ah ok. Anyway, as I wrote before: "For geocaching data is doable also as user-selected directory, but it is a lot of work and I'm not convinced that it is worth it yet.".

What's about /Android/media?

This is freely manageable. Not only for this topic ...
