new update: lost all my settings. Been using Android 11 for over 3 months now - no issues until now.

Locus all of a sudden forced me to choose an alternate storage location with a pop up, and now I have lost all my settings and routes. I restored the routes with cloud sync but now all my icons are gone. My offline maps see also gone.

I have been using Android 11 for over 3 months now, and your apps worked perfectly. Its your new update....

Whats weird is it didnt happen immediatley after update, but a week later.

How can I fix this? Do I need to copy from an old storage folder to the new one? And why didnt the new update automatically do this?

I think the request for change of folder can be denied, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it happened now - see my reply in your parallel help desk topic.

it could not be denied. I tried but it was greyed out. So I was forced to choose new storage location, the app wouldnt open unless I chose this option.

Why didnt the update just copy all my settings to the new storage folder? This seems like a very bad oversight.

Many users will lose data....

I just tried to use a symlink, but it doesn't recognise that either.

Again the same popup, with only one option allowed.

other option is greyed out:

Have you looked at the original location of the Locus files? Anything left there?

x-plore file manager can see any structure on INT and EXT SD, also private App folders and content. Write to EXT SD private folders not possible, though.

yes, good news, files are in original location.

However, how can I have both LM4 and LMP share the same folder? I tried using a symlink but it won't work (perhaps the 'Android' folder is not ext4? )

Do I have to downgrade both apps?

ALSO: the new file import dialogue does not allow multiple file selection. This is tedious for importing many GPX files, I have to import one by one......

Hi Benedict,

I cannot comment on the multi select.

Are you sure you have the LATEST LM4 app version installed? This one would not force a migration, because it has MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (all files access - AFA) privilege (temp, for now). I can use the original location - IF you grant the AFA permission.

If you want LMP to coexist, you should take the special AFA version of LMP from Google Drive (see bottom of one of Menion's posts).

As long as Locus* does not have a fully capable /Android/media mechanism, above is the only way to share data like track and POI DBs, or map.

And before any other move you should COPY your original Locus folder to a PC or other separate location as a backup :-)

Cheers

Michael

Hi MIchael,

I installed the AFA version of Locus Pro from your google drive.....however I cannot see the AFA version for LM4

this is a fucking nightmare. The AFA version, even after I grant permission under "miscellaneous" and set default directories - only sees my presets and offline maps - but all my routes and waypoints are missing. Why is this happening? What happened to all my routes and track folders?

THIS IS A FUCKING JOKE! THIS IS WASTING MY TIME.

Is downgrade the only option?

I managed to downgrade LM4 then use cloud sync to restore my routes.

This whole scenario has wasted precious time. Hopefully next time your team will give warnings to users before this kind of thing happens.

If there is no AFA version for LM4, I do not see any reason to continue with my subscription.

Hello, sorry for the late reply. All versions of LM4 have AFA. In "Android settings > permission of the Locus app > Files and media > All files (not just "media")

LM4 already HAS AFA permitted capability by Google, temporarily. User has to activate this permission at run time.

They denied that privilege for LMP, though. This is the reason there exists that AFA apk on Google drive
