Speed info in database, but not in GPX?

Hi Asamm people,
I was wondering how the Web UI can know a speed at some specific point. The trackpoints in question are basically at the same place, trackpoints are only rarely recorded, e.g. every 3 minutes, because Locus was probably set to auto pause recording. How can Locus say I'm moving 1.1 km/h when there's 3 minutes between two points?
