Good day George,

firstly balloni, thanks!

Exact path is different on every device, so it's on your to find valid path.

Help may be in Locus Map > main menu > About application > About application > Locus Map tab. Here at bottom is full path to base "Working directory". Within this directory you may find directory mentioned by balloni ( data/media ).

Well really like locus map but I need to get these photos off my phone and on to my computer. I don’t see any straightforward way so this becomes a negative for how I was hoping to use it. This should be very simple.

Good day George,

question for me is, how you can imagine, this may be easier? Also what you want to do with manually copied photos from this Locus storage as they have main sense when attached to points. If you wants just copy them from Locus without a points, then why you use Locus to take photos and not normal device camera application?

Hey Menion,

because I think it fits into this topic, I ask this question here:

Would it be possible to make the data/media folder location configurable? I have problems with the growing size of this folder in my internal device memory and thus would love to have an option to move it to the external SD!

But maybe it's problematic to separate the storage location of a track/point itself (Locus DB in internal memory) and it's attachments (probably removeable external storage)?

Hello,

understand. I think it is doable but little bit complicated for now. In TODO list is update of setting of external directories on SD card, so I'll try to keep this in my mind.

just realised this is teh same as y idea from 7 years ago

https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/custom_location_for_poi_photo_storage

which i think will be not possible with A12

Hmm old topic. We are currently actively working on own solution for storing media files. In first step for online LoPoints, then for sync of users photos (probably). So work with "data/media" content, generally with user attachments is something we will have to deal with this year. What I will most probably prefer is to remove support for data/media at all and use only default system storage for created photos (system/DCIM). But more about it later this year ... thanks for understanding.

HI Menion

Thanks for the reply, moving to use DCIM makes sense

i expect a lot of people have their photo points pount to emdia or otehr folders, so a migration wizard might be usefull,

I can appreciate photo sync would be tricky, but would add a lot of value. problem would be if people try to upload too much.

Okay, I'm trying to figure this out now too: on my S22 Ultra, I cannot for the life of me figure out where the attached photos are.

/Android/Data is empty, whereas the "main directory" setting indicates there should be a folder /Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus

/Android/Media/menion.android.locus contains only maps and mapsVector folders

I snap photos inside Locus as photo waypoints, but I would really like to share the occasional one via Facebook or Messenger and so far I can't do that short of opening the waypoint and taking a screenshot of it.

Hello Matt,

recent Android updates bring some changes in the file system and the content of the Android/data directory is not usually visible ... unfortunately. You may anyway give a try alternative file-browser apps like X-plore or Solid Explorer, that are still capable of doing it.

in the points manager, open the photo POI, tap on the photo thumbnail, it will open in a fullscreen view

in the bottom right is a small i

if you tape on that it will tell you the exact path of the image

Also if you long press on the tumbnail in the point screen, you have the option to set as icon, or share

sharing here you will be able to send to other android apps without needing to find it.

Hey Alistair, I already tried that; the problem is that the folder it's in is hidden or not accessible - it tells me the photo is in /Android/data/menion.android.locus/file/Locus/data/media/photo, but going into /Android/data I see nothing in Samsung's My Files, or in my trusty ES File Explorer.

I've tried doing the Share option to send it to Google Drive but that just gives me an error message.

Hello Matt,

indeed. I've tried my loved Solid Explorer I suggested before, and it really on Android 13 cannot access Android/data directory! Seems to be a new fix in Android 13 that block old hack that allowed this, damn.

So the only known solutions for now are

  • ADB connection to the device. My personal preference: ADB plugin into total commander
  • FV File Explorer that use the same hack as Locus Map (when accessing data of Locus Classic) and that should work for now
  • ... any other idea?

Hello,

I am new to Locus maps, and I run into the same problem when trying to recover the pictures. The funny part is that when removing one of them, the phone asks me if I also want to remove it from internal storage, but then they are nowhere to be found.

I tried FV File Explorer option, and still cannot find the folder: /Android/data/menion.android.locus/file/Locus/data/media/photo

Is there any ipdate on using the system storage for created photos (system/DCIM) ?

Thanks in advance

Is there any development

Hello Cesar,

unfortunately, there is currently no (yet) option to use any public directory for the photos. But as I know, Solid Explorer, FV Explorer, and probably also some others should already be able to access these private directories.

I'm just trying Solid Explorer and no problem on Android 14 so far.
