Predefined Zoom-level-buttons in Side-Panel

I would like to have different user defined zoom levels on different buttons in side-panel.

Auto-Zoom does not work for me while cycling. I would prefer dedicated buttons with customizable zoom levels.

Kind regards from Germany

Hello Peter,

so should I imagine this as a button on the side function panel that when tapped, will zoom to a predefined zoom level? If so, how you will use this? You would predefine five buttons and zoom with them instead of finger or +/- buttons?

What is wrong with auto-zoom? What is wrong with keeping a single zoom level and just modifying when needed zoom by a +/- button a little?

I can't imagine how it should work in the field ... choosing which one of four buttons will zoom to desired zoom level instead of simple press "+" button.

Hello Menion,

my first thought was to have several buttons and to be able to give each one a zoom level. The comments from Josef and Freischneider show that there are different ways to call fixed zoom levels directly.

For me personally, the autozoom function does not serve its purpose. When I'm cycling, for example, I need a zoom level that shows me a turn in detail, even though I'm travelling at high speed. Another time I want an overview of a large part of my route, even though I am travelling very slowly.

This is the reason why I would prefer several fixed zoom levels. Perhaps one could toggle the different fixed zoom levels with a single button.

Tasker / Macrodroid functionality would of course be perfect.

An automatically changing zoom for turn-by-turn directions would also be a great improvement.

Understand, thanks for the info.

Firstly

Anyway, I really do not like the idea of "zoom level per button". There already exists a really old and now quite useless function when you tap a long-click on any zoom button. Maybe this window should be re-worked to something more usable ...

Oh, I did not know about that Tasker Addon. I will try to solve my special requirement with a tasker button. So I can easily figure out what works best for me.

Thanks for this hint and your fast response!

The link leads to the existing topic.

If the function already exists, that would be the solution to this suggestion.

In the sidebar you can put them a button "Run Task".

That would then run the zoom to the zoom defined in Tasker. You could even set it to go back to the old value after x seconds. Only the question is if Tasker can retrieve the existing value ?

Hmm weird problem in this help desk system. Anyway link "fixed", thanks.

Good point with tasker. You are of course correct, this should be working.

Existing zoom value? Hmm, maybe over "Tasker add-on"? I've not used it so I'm not sure if these values are available, but should be.

I think that's a good idea. Replacement or enhancement of the zoomlock function. It is a great feature in cycling. When passing through an unknown city, I need a detailed display regardless of speed. Even if I do not use navigation. But it would have to act as a switch. Press to turn off the autozoom and switch to a fixed scale. On the next press to turn on the autozoom again. Zoomlock works similarly, but you cannot define a fixed scale.

I don't normally use autozoom. Because I always set my zoom according to current needs. An idea would be: When autozoom is active or zoomlock is turned on. When clicking on the zoom buttons, a zoom is still performed.

For me would be more important when navigating:

When a navigation announcement comes, so that zoomed to a certain zoom level and after x seconds back to the previous level is returned. So you can see the turn better.

If such a predefined zoom level button comes, it would be nice to be able to address them via Tasker.
