As many useful features, please make the distance markers part of the preset system...

Hi Tapio,

soon or later, the content of presets will be equal to all settings, right? :)

Oki, added, agrees as it may be useful also because it has a performance negative effect and should be useful to disable it easily.

I have always said that. Presets gone altogether. Different profiles and in each profile you can adjust all settings.

And I do not agree with this approach sorry. It is a completely different solution to the problem.

"Presets" > apply set of predefined (selected) settings, but does not make preset active. Later change of these settings does not affect the last selected preset.

"Profile" > activate a profile, so the whole big set of all app settings will be set. Any change will be always saved into the currently active profile. This means there is always an "active profile".

There was a discussion on this topic on the forum here started by you :) and a) I have my own TODO task to analyze it, but b) most people (me as well) prefer the current approach. Anyway, it is a little off-topic here.

Thx for the implementation here.

Yeah there will always be some discussion. You disagreed about adding maps to presets because you say it is data. There was another forum member asking for it - maps are also "a view" in the usecase context. It's about changing from/to presets with satview/mfv4/mfv5.

Hello Menion,

I really don't want to annoy you, but there is one further setting missing in the presets: the "snap to route" setting ("keep cursor on route despite possible GPS deviation").

  • When biking, snapping the cursor to the route is helpful (just like with common car navigation systems).
  • In contrast, when hiking or geocaching in the country, it is more important to know your exact location. When the map quality is not perfect and paths on the map differ from the ones in reality, the "snap to route" feature is often counterproductive.

This is, why linking the "snap to route" feature to certain activities would really make sense. As for me, I have to switch this feature manually on and off before I start an activity.
