Power saving kills the GPS position

Hello!

Is there a way to prevent the power saving from killing the GPS fix?

In my last hike, a few days ago, I've notice that when I'm using power saving on my Pixel 5a (android 13), Locus fail to show my current position after a while. I get a gps fix, I put the phone in my pocket, but when I'm looking to see where I am, after a while, my position doesen't move, even though it says that I have good accuracy (but zero sattelites). I guess it has something to do with the last update of the OS, because in the past I always had my phone on power saving and everything was good. I tried all things, as you can see in the printscreen. Am I missing something? Thank you!

please check this setting also.

If it doesn't help, try to search for device-specific recommendations at https://dontkillmyapp.com/.

Hello!

You mean, to disable battery saver? If I don't use power saving (power saver, in this case), yes, it works just fine, but I started this topic to see if I can have both, to have GPS and power saving, because with power saving activated the GPS stops working. Zero sattelites, my position won't move. If I stay one week in the mountains, I want be able to conserve battery.

In my system, I can define separately for each app whether it should save energy or not. Maybe that works for you too. You have to get your phone to leave the GPS on when you start a recording in Locus. Locus can't do anything about that. That is only controlled by your system.

Hello, one of our developers also has a Pixel 5 and I was told that the battery saver kills the GPS immediately after the screen turns off.

But maybe there is another more sophisticated solution at the mentioned https://dontkillmyapp.com/.

Hello!

But shouldn't these settings (see the printscreens) prevent Locus from losing the sattelites? It's the same for him with those two activated?

Hello,

yes, they should... but it is a setting for the app, not the GPS sensor... and unfortunately these settings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. And some of them are quite aggressive with killing apps and services.

I guess I have to adapt to this change from now on. For some it seems to work even with extreme battery saver activated (a friend with Xiaomi) and I was a little envious. :)

Funny thing. It seems that it works very well even in extreme battery saver mode if I'm recording a track. So I guess those settings do something, after all. But I was more interested in having my location updated. Even so, it's a good news.
