Screen Always On Shortcut

Jon Reed shared this idea 16 months ago

When navigating in cities and complicated junctions it would be very helpful if we had the option of turning the screen on permanently for a duration via a shortcut. I would envisage this shortcut allowing the screen to revert back to its previous state (on for navigation prompts) when pressed a 2nd time.

Hello Jon,

there is currently an option in the "Quick settings" that turns this option on/off.

To make it more "automatic", this sounds to me more like a task to app called "Tasker" or similar, that may do this for sure, but setup may be a little complicated.

Thanks for the reply. I've put the shortcuts on my quick menu so I can turn the screen on manually and then hit screen always on, which is great. But when I hit the screen off button, after the junction etc, will the default behaviour of the navigation return? ( Will it turn on automatically for navigation prompts again?)

Use case.

Cycling. (Phone display visible on the handlebar mount) Proximity sensor function activated.

- Continuous display is ON usefull when entering a complex road situation this by a (single) wave.

- A next (single) wave over the sensor returns you back to the automatic on/off display operation.

Find the necessary (complex) tunings in Locus map next.

Hello Jon,

this toggle in "Quick settings" only changes the main "Enable" option, so it should work without a problem as expected.

Thanks I will try all those tips. My issue may be related to a Samsung update. Today my screen happily turned on and off for a few navigation points then gave up and just announced navigation points. This has only happened since a Samsung update. S21 Ultra. Any thoughts on anything I could check to see why this happens?

Ok thanks. I'll try an uninstall and reinstall to see how that goes, my gut feeling is it's the Samsung update as it happened immediately after the most recent large update. Pity I can't roll that back!
