Selling users custom routes on locus store

Planned

the same horse riding clients from previous idea have a website where they download ordinance survey maps, colour in the british bridleway tracks, and sell them on.

A lot of british horse riding routes arent publicly available easily....

the riders have there horse app for track recording, and then to give them the actual route they have a printed out map as well.

They currently have started using a digital online site, not sure which one, and they might be making gpx routes for their users/riders to download.

If the could sell them from within locus store instead, then locus could get commision etc.

if that makes sense.

i know viewranger had a user route publication system.

Why sell the routes. each trail is freely accessible. You should start maintaining riding routes in OSM. Then anyone can display them with a specially developed theme. In times of open source something like this should be self-evident.

the bridleway association maintain the database of routes, and also spend money clearing and keeping the paths tidy. they sell paper maps as a way to make money, and also because the bridleways arent always known, the maps are basically paper printouts with a marker line on. they have to use a special horse track recording app as it measures trot/canter/gallop , so they end up with app on phone for recording, and then seperate paper map in hand. they are looking at options for digital that they can monetize if people wont be buying physical maps but not digital. there must be a market as viewranger for years sold routes, a lot of these routes had descriptions and photos. There are already some routes available for purchase in the store, but not many. So if users could publicise their own, and people wanted to buy their time in creating/documenting the route, then just a way for extra income for locus.

Frankly, we had this idea a few years ago. We'd like to allow users to create quality routes that include descriptions, photos, points of interest, etc. Such routes could be offered for free or for a fee through the store.
At the moment it is still more of an idea than a clear plan. But this idea is planned...
