Error 1811 while initializing the app on new smartphone

Not a Problem

Hi together,

I tried to install Locus Map Pro on my new smartphone (Pixel 6 / Aurora Store / GrapheneOS), but get the error code 1811 while initializing the app.

I already used the Locus PRO for several years on my old smartphone and want to use it on, because it's a fucking great app.

I checked the other topics and learned, that this error 1811 is a problem with license verification.

Therefore I have installed the FREE-version for test purpose and it worked fine on my new phone.

I bought the PRO version through the google play store at the time.

How can I send you my google-account to solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your support.

Hi,

Locus Map Pro verifies its license via Google Play and Services. Please make sure these are installed and updated.

Hi Michal,

since I wanted to get away from the Google monitoring, I just got an operating system that no longer uses Google services.

Unfortunately, Locus is the first app I have that explicitly insists on it. This is a great pity. Is there no other way to re-enable the full version here?

If you want, I can give you my Payment-ID to show, that I bought the app from the Play store back at that time.

I also read that you had the option to download the software from AndroidPIT back then. Did this also make use of Google services to certify the software?

I would be very happy if there was another way to continue using Locus because I have been very comfortable with the app so far. But if this is not possible, then I guess I will have to look for another navigaton software.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

I'm sorry but at the moment it is not possible to unlock the app otherwise than via verifying its license through Google Play - Google Play is the distributor of the app, not us - we are just its developers. Nevertheless, we are working on our own distribution platform that will be independent on Google. But there is a very long way to go, hopefully it'll be finished by the end of this year.

Hi,

I understand what you mean and I already know, that the road to independence can take a very long time.

But I'm very happy to hear, that you want to go this way. :-)

Well, I think we can close this topic here and I will set a reminder until the end of this year. Maybe you have some goods news then. ;-)

I keep my fingers crossed for you - and keep up the good work because the app is really great!

Is there any progress on this issue?

I just moved to /e/ on my tablet (e.foundation) which is a tracking free android. Installing locus through the aurora store gives this 1811 start error.

@locus: Is there any solution independent from the google cosmos having locus pro?

Hi,

the Google-free solution is partially available now but only for Locus Map 4. The app can be downloaded from https://bit.ly/lmVersions and you can purchase a voucher for a yearly Premium here: Premium - Locus Map - mobile outdoor navigation app. Very soon we'll introduce also Google-free purchase of LoCoins.

After a year of tackling this issue, we decided not to introduce a Google-free solution for Locus Map Classic.
