Hello,

you can check release notes at the first start after the update.

If you want to read them later, they are in "Menu > Abou the app/Helpdesk / About the app" - card "Release notes"

Zdeněk , thank you for the answer.

But, unfortunately, your advice didn't help me. I see information about the already installed version. But I need to know the information about the latest version in order to make a decision about the need to install it.

You are announcing changes for version 4.x at this address: https://help.locusmap.eu/announcements .

Why is the same information not published for version 3.x?

Hello,

the most important notes for regular updates are defined in Google Play.

But the full list is not published as the LM3 is mostly in maintenance mode.

If it helps this time, here is the full list of the latest version:

Zdeněk thanks again.
But I will ask this question after the release of each new version of 3.x. :-)

You should not ask the question every time. I would only give them an answer once.
The best thing is to switch to LM4, where the changes are visible on the homepage.

I tried using LM4 several times, but each time I returned to LM3. The LM4 interface is too pretentious, provides a lot of not very necessary information that cannot be disabled. LM3, on the contrary, is concise, and this is extremely important to me.

Hello,

please, can you specify, what unnecessary information (which can't be hidden) LM4 displays? :-)

A long press was performed here and there. Practically the same information occupies 30% of the screen area in one case and 5% in the other.

Vyacheslav, i see your point, its the "long press to search for address" which then creates a temporary point with a magifying glass icon, and goes in to the point detail, i believe this was done to save people an extra step...you can turn off the long press option, but it sounds you want to search for an address and only show basic details. This is going backwards really, and by using LM3 rather than 4 you will miss out on new features...

The moment you click on it you want to see the information of the point. Then you don't want to look at the map. You can only concentrate on one thing. If you want to see the map again, just slide the info screen down.
@Zdeněk Kondler
There is something to improve though. When I come with the cursor over the POI then a small window opens.
If I click on the POI then it becomes larger and highlighted.
A large window opens at the bottom with all the information.
And it also opens the small window. The small window is not necessary in this case. Because the information in it is already contained in the big window.

freischneider, When you are riding a bike on a rough road, it is not easy to control your phone, especially with swipes. Or when you are running through the forest at night in the rain in search of a KP, and your phone is in a moisture-proof case, then any number of actions, more than one, to control the phone causes concern.

Thus, one action to control the phone is good, but two actions are already bad.

It's a pity that the creators of Locus forgot about ergonomics.

For example, users who use Locus in extreme conditions have been asking for a long time to switch maps with ONE command. But probably too few of us use Locus not in the car or on the couch to be able to switch in this way.

Is it very difficult to expand the set of buttons on the functional panel and add a switch button to the previous map?

And as for information panels, both in LM4 and in LM3 their space is used very irrationally, panels can be reduced by two or three times if the same information is placed more compactly.

Is it very difficult, for example, to at least elementary reduce the distance between the lines and arrange the text in two columns?

It is not clear why the information panels themselves overlap the map, which does not allow you to instantly see changes on the map, especially if it concerns managing the map view. In Locus, the most important element is the map itself.

Is it very difficult to make such panels transparent?

IMHO, it's time to focus the main efforts on improving the ergonomics of Locus, instead of expanding functionality. Locus is trying to become a huge clumsy harvester that does everything, but it's impossible to use it.

I think so that everything is very good. You also do not have to close the POI by wiping. You can also close it by clicking, just like you opened it.
Trasparent panel, then you can not see the information properly. The contrast is then very bad depending on the map.
Expand the function panel....yes that would help with some things. Maybe they can also solve something about Tasker.
To control with the bike I bought a remote control. Since with long gloves a control is not possible.
Here there are already many functions that you can control with external buttons.
Information boards smaller....da I am against it. Since the clarity is lost. With buttons, they must not be too close to each other.
I open information panels only when I need the information. And then it can't be big enough. At the moment when I read the information I don't want to see anything from the map. But Locus is already better here with the POI and very flexible.

All pencils have a different taste. :-)
This suggests that the settings should be more flexible.

Vyacheslav there is a recent feature where you can change the current map with a preset, also you can change preset with the app Tasker.

So i have set tasker to change map, open compass, weatehr etc by shaling my phone.

and when phone is mounted on bike, I can control it and change map using my smartwatch buttons etc.

That reminds me of something else. In LM4 there is a function to switch the map quickly.
Long press on Map Content Panel and switch between the 2 last used maps.
I always switch between satellite map and OAM map.

Alistair Parsons, I use Tasker and a Bluetooth remote control to turn on/off the screen, change the map scale, tell by voice how much is left until the next turn or the end of the route to enter a voice POI. I also use Tasker to automatically turn on the screen before turning and temporarily zoom in on the map until the turn is complete.

I do not know how to change the map using tasker. Tell me about it in more detail, I'm interested.

freischneider, did not know about such a function in LM4. Thanks for the information, I will definitely try.

Step one is you create presets with the cosen map etc.

Step Two Tasker , send intent, see here for details https://github.com/asamm/locus-api/wiki/Action-tasks-(Broadcasts)#preset

Although for most things I use the tasker locus plugin made by Falco as its easier...

If you use bluetooth remote to control tasker directly, rather than control locus

then you can do things like double click, or rotate round options.

Alistair Parsons, this is a very interesting link. Thank you for the useful information.

Switch card via Tasker ? My thoughts: I think not so that you can control the card directly ? or is there a function in the Locus API. Maybe ask Menion.
But you could create 2 presets and set the map.
Preset can be controlled by Tasker. I have the function, as soon as Tasker recognizes the BT of the remote control, the MTB preset is selected.
I have a button on the remote control with which I control Autovoice (Tasker). Since I have then deposited many profiles. In each a code word that recognizes Autovoice and then triggers another task accordingly.
I press the Taske x and the voice recognition goes on. I say battery and Autoice recognizes battery. Behind battery is stored so that the app is called from the e-bike with battery status.
I say map or Locus (it can also be stored different words or similar sounding) then Locus is brought back to the foreground.
Say camera -- camera app is opened.
Sage picture -- a photo track point is opened.
You have thousands of other options.
Maybe we need a few more functions in the Locus API. You can submit these as suggestions for improvement in the helpdesk.
This feature is very helpful with long gloves, rain cover phone, rough road with bike etc.

freischneider, maybe the tasker profiles you mentioned are available for download?

photo

Here are a few. As a base you need the profile to enable autovoice with the BT button.
Then a profile where you enter the code word in Autovoice and then trigger a task.

freischneider ● I managed to create the necessary commands by voice. Thanks again for the help.
