Allow to add new waypoints with same name without asking

I am an OpenStreetMap contributor and among the things I like to map I am very passionate about public water spots. For cyclists and hikers as I am, being aware of where it is possible to replenish one's water load is very important, sometimes critical (and it could be vital!). That's why I map as many of those points as I can.

Now to Locus.

Any time I add a waypoint with the same name of an existing one - as "Water" - Locus asks if I want to overwrite the previous point (!) or ignore the "conflict".

This is bothering as I have to tap one extra button every time, or invent longer names not to make conflicts as "water 1a" and so on. The risk - and that happened! - is to even burn a previous point you've taken by accident.

So please add the possibility to just add waypoints without asking for nothing, no matter if there are plenty of other points with the same name. There's no reason why a mapper shouldn't mark several spots as "house", or "fork", or whatever.

That's it, thank you very much!

Good day Febs,

please check if settings "Check for duplicates" ( http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:settings:miscellaneous#data_import ), helps you.

Hi Febs,

It doesn't solve your question but what about "Quick new point" feature. It's quite helpful tool for mapping. You can define more categories (type of points) or define the "base name". Please see http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:functions:quick_new_point&

Hello, the "check for duplicates" settings off solves the problem. That's exactly what I was looking for, but I was unable to find it - sorry!

It looks like the "quick new point" will help me a lot, I was about to open a new "response" about it... I will study if I can quickly add a picture or a voice note with a single touch. That'd be amazing!

Thank you :)

Hello, I unfortunately realized that by doing so I am actually eliminating the check when importing bulk data. And this, would actually be desiderabile.

I really think there should be two different settings, one for bulk import (that checks for coordinates and not only names... Which may be misleading) and the other for manual insertion. When adding a point by hand one can hardly not notice if he's overwriting over an existing point. What do you think? Thanks!
