Add support for private WMS Servers

How do I add a private WMS server (with username and password)?
I`ve tried http://username:password@provider.com... and this doesn`t work.
The specific server is www2.landgate.wa.gov.au which as public access supported, but only via a username and password.
I like this idea

as well as in this topic - https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/top... , secured connection (so any way to add username/password to connection), is not yet supported by Locus

I'm glad to announce that after years of waiting, since next Locus Map version, WMS password protected maps should be fully supported.
