Selected track is hidden by other track

Solved

I have two tracks which share an (almost) identical part. Now, one of them is painted over the other, which of course cannot be avoided. However, if I select the other (partly hidden) track and it's highlighted, it's still hidden by the other track. Now it looks as if the highlighted track is missing a section.

I can imagine this might be a technical restriction, but it's definitely not optimal. Is it possible to change that?
