Several issues with navigation mode

Hi,

I'm currently using Locus Map 4 (Gold Plan) for trail running and am experiencing several issues that make navigation challenging when running :

- The blue navigation cursor seems anchored to the predefined track rather than reflecting my real-time position and orientation. Is this behavior expected?
If so, is there a setting available to make the cursor match my actual GPS position and phone compass orientation instead ? (see attached screenshot)

- When rotating my phone horizontally (either intentionally or accidentally) and then returning it to a vertical position, the map does not consistently re-center accurately on my current location. (see attached screen recording)

- The compass-based map orientation works well when stationary, but once I start moving, map rotation becomes either very sluggish or completely unresponsive.

Is there any settings available to adjust these behaviors ?

Thank in advance !

Hi,

For the first point, I've found "Heading line" +" "Show view" options in Map > Auxiliary Graphics in the documentation. I'm not sure : do these settings allow to enable a secondary cursor in navigation mode that show my current position and oriented accordingly the phone compass ?

For the two other points, I may be misusing the "center button" with the lock mode, I guess I will re-read the doc and run some further tests :)

Ok I've just made some additional quick tests : "Heading line" +" "Show view" options are great to display a cursor that indicates the current position and the phone orientation.

However, in navigation mode I confirm that it's extremely laggy that makes the navigation barely unusable in real condition : both the map itself and the cursor (Show view cursor + heading line) rotate jerkily, or even hang for some time. Also, the cursir and heading line appear and disappear without any reason while I'm walking.

-It seems smoother when I just display the map without runing the navigation mode though

- Tested with a some other navigation apps, and they all behave smoothly regarding the map and cursor rotation when moving

- Attached : screen recording where I'm walking and smoothly rotating my phone in different directions.

(I'll make another try with "map orientation map" setting switched from "auto-change" to "hardware compass", don't know if it could help)

Hi Vincent,

1) go to settings > navigation > advanced settings > snap to route - turn it OFF. The app will display your real location when navigating a route.

2) I'm unable to simulate this issue, sorry

3) go to settings > GPS&sensors > Map rotation mode > Auto-change - change the default speed for changing the mode to lower speed than 3.6 km/h. If you still have issues, try turning on the compatibility mode in the same settings section

PLease make a backup of your settings and send the backup file here for a test. Thanks.

Hi Michal,

Thanks a lot for your help !

Turning off the "snap to route" matches exactly what I needed, thank you ! My bad, I should've tried this settings before asking ...

Regarding the map rotation mode, I played with the available settings, and the one that fit the most my needs is "hardware compass" (just saw that it's the recommended value for hiking by the way). It's way smoother than when I tried with the default value. (I assume that with with the default value, maybe it was switching a lot of times between the compass and the GPS and thus causing the lags ?)
