Import of old photos not working

Not a Problem

Hello, I'm a big fan of Locus but now I have an issue with showing gps-tagged photos in Locus Maps.

I've used Locus Map Classic 3.70 for the last several years on my Pixel 7a and I've taken many photos during hikes from within Locus to show them on the map.

I've just received my new Pixel 9 Pro, installed Locus and copied all of these previously taken photos into the folder "/storage/emulated/0/Android/media/menion.android.locus/media/photos/" on the Pixel 9 Pro. I had hoped that these photos then show up on the map again automatically, but I cannot see them.

I thought this is the correct folder for such photos. What do I need to do in order to show old gps-tagged photos in my new installation of Locus Maps?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

Hi Pauli,

when transferring the app data, please follow the instructions exactly as they are described here: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:faq:pro_to_lm4

Hello Michael, many thanks for your answer and the suggestion. The provided instructions seem to be relevant for when I want to migrate to Locus Map 4. However, I would like to stick with Locus Map Classic.

I installed Locus Map Classic on my new Pixel and would now like to see the previously saved gps-tagged photos in Locus Map Classic on my previous phone on my new phone.

As far as I understand, I need to copy all the photos into a specific folder and then they will be displayed. The problem is I'm not sure which folder that exactly is (as there are ambiguous information when I google for this). Also, I'm unsure if an additional step is needed, e.g. transfering some sort database-file, where the gps-tagged photos' information is collected?

The procedure is the same when you transfer the data to LM Classic.

"As far as I understand, I need to copy all the photos into a specific folder and then they will be displayed."

- you need to transfer the whole Locus directory with the "Unload app data" command so that the paths between the database and the photos are preserved.
