No offline POIs in 4.30 for how long ?

It came as a surprise to me that I would no longer be able to search/display LoPoints in 4.30...
I hope it's only for a very short time: it's a big miss at higher elevation without a phone signal !!!
Locus Map strength is, for me, its ability to work 100% offline.

You need the new maps from June. After that, the offline and online POIs will be in the same area. You can choose whether you want only online, only offline, or automatic.

This should be described in the manual.

Hello Gergy

What you see is a mistake and new version of LoMaps contains new kind of LoPoints (V2). This graphical issue will be fixed in the next app version.

These new LoMaps/LoPoints (June 2025) works for overlays (available over side Map-screen content panel > LoPoints).

For overlays, app uses LoPoints based on the app settings > Points & Tracks > LoPoints - Loading mode. By default "automatic" mode is set, so app use offline LoPoints first, then online if no offline data are available. Also details of LoPoints are loaded offline if internet is not available.

In case, you want to search for nearest supermarkets, please use

1. app search > Online addresses and places ... currently only online, but this will works also offline for places with the next app version

2. or you may enable overlay with supermarkets. Tap on the LoPoints item in the side menu and add category you want to have highlighted on the map

Full offline search in new LoPoints will be available in the one of next app version.

Thanks for understanding and sorry for confusion.

Hi Menion,

you wrote: "By default "automatic" mode is set, so app use offline LoPoints first, then online if no offline data are available. Also details of LoPoints are loaded offline if internet is not available."

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding something: "Automatic" only loads offline LoPoints for me. Newer LoPoints that are currently only available online only appear for me with the "only online" setting. So I don't see any difference between "Automatic" and "only offline".

As I understand it, "Automatic" should always display all offline LoPoints and, if there is an Internet connection, also or additionally display the online LoPoints that are not yet included in the offline database. That's not the case for me.

It would actually make sense for LoPoints to be loaded depending on the Internet connection. Without an Internet connection (or with a poor connection), the offline LoPoints are always loaded; with a sufficient Internet connection, the online LoPoints are loaded. For me, that would be "automatic" (and then you wouldn't actually need the three different settings).

Or am I wrong?

"Automatic" mode display LoPoints offline. In case, on the screen is area not covered by the offline data, it loads the screen with online data. Nothing more. So automatic mode is ideal in most cases, because it saved you data (use offline), but allows to look also on places where you do not have downloaded LoMaps.

With the LoPoint detail it is a little bit different. It also firstly loads and display offline LoPoint. But in case, there is internet connection, it try to load also online detail, because it may have some extra data (new or missing offline).

Automatic is good for saving data. That's not a problem for me, but it's still nice. However, some offline POIs are very old. They are loaded with the map every 3-4 months. During this time, many new POIs are added. I don't see these at all.

So I have to select “online only.” But if the connection is poor or non-existent, I can't see anything. If online only, it should switch to offline when there is no connection (if available). And when the connection is back, it should switch back to online.

Alternatively, another setting (most accurate online switch to offline).

The explanation was from you, maybe it could be explained in more detail in the manual?

"Online only with offline fallback" > make sense, just starts to be little overcomplicated 😊.

We will think about it ...

Manual > it is @Michal Stupka s job. Vacations etc ... but I'm sure, he will insert this info into manual page.

Thanks for the explanation! So, in automatic mode, only offline LoPoints are loaded in areas for which I have downloaded a map with poiv2.db. Newer LoPoints are (unfortunately) not displayed.

Only when I view areas for which I do not have poiv2.db are online LoPoints loaded. I have now tried this and it works.

It's just a pity that newer LoPoints can therefore generally only be seen in "only-online" mode, especially since poiv2.db is only updated approximately every 3 months. This is a disadvantage of automatic mode, as the LoPoints displayed are not as up to date.

Edit: Unfortunately, I only saw freischneider's post and Menion's reply to it afterwards. Then I hope it will be implemented in the future. 🙂

Hmm probably best should be improving "Online only" mode to some kind of "Automatic with online preference and offline fallback". We have to unite this with iOS, so I'll forward it to my colleagues. Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying, will wait for the next version for searching offline POIs. Keep up the nice work. The new 'Highlight on map' feature is great
