My tracks and points are lost. No conversion screen appears.

Solved

Hello,

I had old version of

Locus (not sure which one, perhaps 1.xxx or 2.xxx). After an upgrade

via Google Play all my tracks and points are lost. No conversion

screen ever appeared.

I followed advice to reinstall Locus Pro and

to restart the smartphone. It did not help. What else can I do?

I

have backups with SQLL files. But files are not a problem, even in

the current folder /sdcard/Locus/data I see dbtracks.sqll. However,

the new Locus does not "see" the tracks.

Best

regards, Alexander_K

Hello Alexander,

you had to ahve really old version (probably more then two years).

Latest Locus isn't able to convert data from old database to new system, so only working solution is to install back old version, export all data and import these files back to new installation of Locus.

Do you have older APK files (version)? If you will have problems with it, you may send me database files for tracks and waypoints on support.locus@asamm.con and I'll export these data for you.

Hello,

You are right, I can't really recall when I have upgraded Locus Pro last time. It's definitely more than 2 years. Why upgrade? Locus is perfect :)

Anyway, I have found an ancient Locus Free on my device and it is able to open the old tracks and points. I used to Export them as GPX and have imported them into the new Pro.

Many thanks for advice!

best regards,

Alexander

I have upgraded my Xperia Z3 compact. Before upgrading, I back-uped all the data to PC and after uprading I sent data back to phone. Settings of Locus looks the same, but data (tracks, points) are gone. All other applications in the phone restored data normaly. Do you have an idea, how to get back my data (in PC, back-up of the the phone it is dbk. file)

Thank you

Hello Jiri,

unfortunately, I'm not sure how you created the backup of data. Have you used some app for it?

Anyway Locus stores points and tracks data in folder Locus/data/database. Please if you have backup copy of these files simply copy them into the same folder.

Hi Petr,

there are no data in Locus/data/database. All data from mobile was saved through Sony PC Companion backup program as one file- in PC it appears as dbk.file (2,5 GB) Data in other applications restored without problem. It is not catastrophy, but I would like to find my data, if possible, and to prevent the same situation to happen in next uprading of mobile software.

Any advice?

Thanks

I'm sorry but I guess that Sony PC Companion made backup only for "private" system folder. This is folder where every app can store some data. Locus also uses this folder but for example only for settings and other small data. For maps, points and track is used second folder "/Locus" which is located in the root of the SDcard or internal storage. I guess that this folder was not backuped by Sony PC Companion. The Data in system private folder are removed when app is uninstalled. This is reason why Locus uses second folder "/Locus"

Are you able to get data from old device? The suggested steps how to upgrade are described:

Thank you Petr,

it looks definitely as you described (settings and some data renewed; tracks , points, and maps disappeared or hidden). I do not have a new device, just a new software, so the data would possibly be somewhere in the root of the phone or I can ask Sony support if it is possible to get it from dbk backup. Next time I will do it as in the link you send me.

I'm aware that data were removed during upgrade... I'm sorry for that but data are very like lost.
