Show overview of status of last backups

Hi,

the Backup Manager shows the status of the last backup. The screen would have enough space to show more information. How about the status of the last 10 backups?

Thanks Wolfgang

The old safeguards are no longer relevant. The last one is important.

What you want is called information overload.

Not really. When the last backups failed and the one a few days ago was fine I would not worry about that.

But when I only know the backup failed I cannot see if there was a good one some days ago.

I only could check this when I check the destination. But when I see in the quick overview that there was a positive backup some days ago I am fine for the moment.

You only can weigh a situation when you know the history.

When you go to the doctor he also will ask you how long you have the pain ;)

In the event of a failure, you can view the last few entries up to the last successful one. However, I do not wish to see the last five successful entries.

Widely used solution - show two dates (if they are different): last backup try and last successful backup.

@freischneider

...you can view the last few entries up to the last successful one... this is exactly what I am looking for where can I see this log ?

It was just a suggestion. But I think @Evgeny Kurshev's suggestion is much better.

If status is Failed -- also display the last successful one.

If status is Successful -- only display this one.

That's really a great idea: if failed show last successful one. This would be great, so it's easy to decide if it's urgent to check or if it's just fine.

Honestly, a really good solution is to use a dedicated app for sending data to the cloud.

Since the introduction of automatic backups in Locus (spring 2012), I've had a simple setup: Locus makes a local backup, FolderSync uploads it to my server (but it could be any of ~20 cloud services). And FolderSync can do everything you want, including full logging and problem notifications.

Hi Evgeny, I totally agree with you I like FolderSync - especially because the locus team didn't want to integrate pcloud as cloud provider.

But FolderSync does not help if local backup fails.

I was very naive, thinking that Locus backup issues only occurred with uploading to the cloud. Either I've never encountered anything else, or (even worse) I've encountered it but don't know about it.

Please tell me what other backup issues there are besides uploading?

I have never noticed that any local backups were missing. They were always all there. However, I also do a sync with Drivesync. I sync the entire Locus folder. I have excluded a few folders (Maps SRTM, Segments4). The whole process is automatic, with folders monitored and synced in the background. This means I have three backups (local, cloud, folder).

I had it for months - the reason could have been that I once changed my SD card - maybe I forgot to give locus access rights to the new one. I don't remember what the reason was.

I also think that the information from the last backup is sufficient. I am against displaying too much information that nobody needs. If a backup was unsuccessful, you can add the last successful one. But nothing more.

Hey guys,

it sounds like you click all the time on the almost empty screen of the backup manager and would then complain when you see 5 Smileys three in red and two in green.

Sorry but I do not understand these arguments. You react like I suggested a message box which appears on each app start with the status of the last backup.

Hi guys, isn't in-app notify system solution for this? Like in my case:

Hi Menion,

awesome looks great!

For me it would be sufficient if only backups appear which have errors. Maybe this could be a checkbox if always or only failed ones.

Thanks you very much :D
