Download Map: "Not enough free disk space" but it is not true!

Agustin Lobo shared this problem 8 years ago
Not a Problem

I'm trying to download the offline Locus Map for France.

It claims "Not enough free disk space" for a map of 1752.90 Mb.

But it also reports I have 3461 Mb of free space!

Tried moving the whole Locus directory to another SD, but same problem.

Any fix?

Thanks

Good day Agustin,

map of France require 1572 MB to download and 2377 MB after extract on card. But it means, you need almost 4 GB of free space. After correct extract, downloaded file will be deleted so only 2377 big file remain on your card.

Thanks

No way to extract to a folder (or even using a PC), extract and finally copy to the Locus vector folder?

You are welcome.

You mean "download to a folder (or even using ..."? No sorry, there is only this way how to download vector maps from Locus Store. Fortunately for these huge countries is always possible to download just a needed smaller parts (areas).

Maybe it would be useful to add more info to the map store - an estimate of free space required?

Hmm hard to say how to display it.

202 MB will be downloaded

290 MB will be used after map is ready to use

492 MB free on card is needed to download and extract map (202 + 290)

Maybe...

SIZE 666 MB space available

202 MB needed for download

492 MB needed to extracting map

290 MB when ready

It may save future user confusion & frustration. Unfortunately lots more text/ not very compact, however it does tell the user a lot more about what is required than the current icons.
